A Letter from the Founder

Closing the 2025–2026 Season

As we close the 2025–2026 season, I would like to take a moment, also on behalf of the entire KBPF committee, to reflect not only on this past 2025-2026 Season, but also on the remarkable journey our festival has experienced since its founding in 2017.

What began as a dream to bring world-class piano music to the island of Key Biscayne has grown into a vibrant cultural tradition for our community. Over the years, the Key Biscayne Piano Festival has welcomed internationally acclaimed pianists, rising young artists, and special collaborations, bringing audiences together through the universal language of music.

From our inaugural season in 2017, the festival has steadily expanded its artistic reach. We have presented diverse repertoires spanning centuries of piano literature and have welcomed distinguished artists from around the world, creating memorable full-venue performances that enrich the cultural life of our island.

Even during the difficult years of the pandemic, the festival continued its mission through virtual concerts and special online events, ensuring that music remained accessible to our community during a time when the arts were deeply needed.

International Artistic Collaborations

One of the most meaningful aspects of the festival’s growth has been its artistic collaboration with the renowned Miami International Piano Festival, founded by Giselle Brodsky.

Thanks to this collaboration — and to the personal friendship and artistic partnership between Giselle and me — the Key Biscayne Piano Festival has had the privilege of presenting many distinguished artists from the international piano scene. Through this partnership, we have been able to bring extraordinary musicians to Key Biscayne and connect our island community with the broader international world of classical piano.

Special Projects and Artistic Collaborations

While the piano remains at the heart of the festival, our programming has often expanded beyond the traditional solo recital format. Over the years, the festival has presented performances featuring orchestras, opera singers, and special collaborative projects that enrich our audience’s musical experience.

These collaborations reflect the spirit behind the name Key Biscayne Piano Festival and More, highlighting the festival’s commitment to exploring music in many forms and creating artistic encounters that go beyond the traditional concert experience.

Among the many memorable moments in the festival’s history was our collaboration with island-resident pop pianist Arthur Hanlon and Sony Music Latin on the special project “Un Piano en Navidad.” The performance reached a remarkable global audience online, generating more than 2 million views on Facebook and demonstrating how music from Key Biscayne can resonate far beyond our community.

Gratitude to Our Community

None of this would have been possible without the extraordinary support we have received throughout the years.

My deepest gratitude goes to the Village of Key Biscayne for its continued support and commitment to the arts. I would also like to thank the Key Biscayne Community Foundation for its collaboration since the beginning of this journey, as well as our media partners: Windows Channel and Islander News, private donors, volunteers, and friends who help make each season possible.

Most importantly, I would like to thank our audience. Your presence, enthusiasm, and love for music are the heart of the Key Biscayne Piano Festival. Even our final concert of this season drew a full house despite challenging, inclement weather — a beautiful reminder of the strong cultural spirit that lives in our community.

As we look toward future seasons, we remain committed to continuing this journey — bringing inspiring performances, extraordinary artists, and unforgettable musical experiences to our community. With your support, the Key Biscayne Piano Festival will continue to grow as a place where music, culture, and community come together.
